My Approach
Using a flexible, creative approach to therapy, I offer tailored support designed to be responsive to each client's needs. My lens is both developmental and trauma-informed, but always resiliency and strength-based in nature. I have a particular interest in how our earliest relationships with our caregivers influence the way we interact with others and show up in our daily lives. This can help us understand a lot about ourselves within our own interpersonal contexts-self in relation to family, as caregivers, and in friendships and romantic relationships. As well as within environmental contexts- self in relation to school, work, home, and social settings.
Our work in therapy will always depend on what you bring into the room; that will drive the treatment modality best suited for your goals and help us identify strategies most appropriate and applicable in your day-to-day life. I do also incorporate psychoeducation, somatic techniques, and cognitive and dialectical behavior skill building into sessions. That said, I place a strong emphasis on mindfulness, being in the present moment, and always strive for authenticity, connection, and meaningful change in our work together. I might be a good match for you if you're OK with a less structured approach and are looking for more modern than traditional talk therapy, and I'm probably NOT the best match for you if you are looking for strictly skill building in session and homework assignments in between.
My ultimate goal is to get in the boat with you in what can often be the storm of life not unfolding the way that you expected.
