Therapy with Adults
I help adults in all phases of life. I help my clients work through new and past traumas, and through typical or unexpected life transitions. In therapy we can make meaning, find purpose, or forge new paths. Many clients come for help managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, or addictions. If you need help but don't know what questions to ask, that's okay! You don't have to know exactly what's wrong or what you want. Finding out is part of the process! Therapy can be to heal, recover, sort through, reconnect, rejuvenate, strengthen, or change aspects of your life to make it more manageable & meaningful.
2.
preteens, adolescents, and transitioning adults (hey you, college kids and grads!)
I work with adolescents, and young adults. Whether it's working through how to gracefully navigate the growing need for independence, helping adolescents walk through the teenage 'hood, or supporting & empowering young adults transition to the "wild" world beyond home - these are critical times for young people to feel seen, heard, & connected. And to learn to advocate for just that!

Teletherapy via https://doxy.me/drmaurakcole
When appropriate, I offer teletherapy via a HIPAA compliant platform. This can be used for clients who cannot consistently make it to the office, when one of us is sick, or during inclement weather where travel is difficult. It has been particularly helpful/necessary this year between Covid and having an immuno-compromised family member.
I no longer do -in-home meetings but hold family sessions on an as needed basis per client request and treatemt appropriateness
My Approach
Using a flexible, creative approach to therapy, I offer tailored support designed to be responsive to each client's needs. My lens is both developmental and trauma-informed, but always resiliency and strength-based in nature. I have a particular interest in how our earliest relationships with our caregivers influence the way we interact with others and show up in our daily lives. This can help us understand a lot about ourselves within our interpersonal contexts-self in relation to family, as caregivers, and in friendships and romantic relationships. As well as within our environmental contexts- self at school, work, home, and social settings.
Our work in therapy will always depend on what you bring into the room; that will drive the treatment modality best suited for your goals and help us identify strategies most appropriate and applicable in your day-to-day life. That said, I place a strong emphasis on mindfulness, being in the present moment, and always strive for authenticity, connection, and meaningful change in our work together.
